Paint and draw the Patterns of the Alhambra
Join us for a week of drawing and painting the geometry of the Alhambra. Spectacular art, incredible food and meditative relaxation in the magical city of Granada.
Explore these beautiful patterns, whilst recreating them in our studio. Tour the world heritage Alhambra and explore the ancient streets of the Albaicin, wandering through this enchanting city.
This course takes in a range of pattern work in the Alhambra specificaly and is designed to delve deeper into the elements that make the Alhambra one of the greatest examples of Islamic art. The course is created for those wishing to understand more about geometric design. It is perfect for explorers of pattern, beginners and seasoned artists alike.
Take a week to indulge, revel, relax and connect with others on a journey into the art of the Alhambra.

Schedule:
Monday - Friday 10am-6pm with lunch
Each day begins in our studio examining and drawing a specific pattern chosen for it’s unique qualities from the Alhambra. We break for lunch each day at a selected group of Granadas best restaurants. Afternoons are filled with more drawing and painting.
In the middle of our week we will take a guided tour of the Alhambra. Kate will accompany you in an examination of details and methods used in the designs construction.
We end the week with a wonderful celebratory dinner together, a chance to reminisce with fellow artists on a fantastic week together.
Additional excursions are available on request, for example: tapas tour of historic Granada, flamenco show, wine tasting in the Lecrin valley, visit to the luxurious hammam baths.
Materials:
All the materials, equipment, joy and creativity are supplied for this unforgettable week. Of course students are welcome to bring their own beloved compasses, paints, rulers or sketchbooks. A notebook would be a perfect companion, just to take down the little pearls of wisdom, brief sketches of patterns we discover or memories of our guided tour.
