The Geometric Art Studio is back in Granada with bookings now open for our one off Alhambra workshops for the week of October 5-9 and a weekly class starting October 13.

Our general classes are designed to be a friendly interesting introduction to how geometric art is made. We show how the designs of the Alhambra were created then draw a pattern using these techniques. You then paint your creation for a unique souvenir. This class gives you a deeper understanding of the art and artisans of the Alhambra and are a wonderful way to enjoy your time in Granada. You will have a fantastic time and come away with a something that you can hang on your walls with priode.

Delve a little deeper - GeoArtistry - A four week immersive course

Learn a new skill, and spend a few enjoyable hours a week doing something different.

A four week course beginning October 13th.

Enjoy a change of pace and try something new and unique. Learn how to use a compass and a ruler to create dynamic, exciting and beautiful patterns from around the world. `No maths just art, and an artform that helps you escape the stresses of the world while you immerse yourself in patterns that have traversed the world along the ancient Silk Road. The art of Moorish Andalucia and the Alhambra are just one small part of what we will look at in this class, as we explore the legacy of civilisations who believed peace and tranquility were achievable through the practice of art and pattern.

What do we do?

Taking a design from the Alhambra we show the simple geometric principles underlying its’ structure. Students create their own design using a pencil and compass and add colour with either watercolour or gouache painting techniques to bring it alive.

By the end of the lesson you will have a beautiful design of your own to take home and a deeper understanding of how the Alhambra was made. It’s a wonderful way to add to your Andalucian experience.

Who are classes for?

All levels of artistic ability and experience are welcome . We help every student each step of the way and if you know what you’re doing and want to pick up some new skills there is plenty we can show you. With over twenty years of teaching experience we provide all kinds of classes that our students love!

You don’t need to bring a thing, we supply everything! At the end you leave with a beautiful creation to take home.

We are in a beautiful studio in the Genil in Granada.

Cool and air conditioned for summer and heated for winter, you will feel perfectly comfortable!

How long is a class?

Classes are around three hours with lots of refreshment breaks. We focus on enjoyment and students work at their own pace while painting.

Who is the teacher?

Kate Henry has studied geometric design for over fifteen years in Dhaka, Sydney, Tashkent, London and Granada. She has exhibited in Spain, Japan, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh and is a true lover of geometric art.

Mark Ewing, also an experienced teacher and artist, will also be there to help so you will get all the support you need to have a fantastic time.

How many in a class?

Beginner’s classes are a maximum of 7 giving us plenty of space to work in! If it is a special occasion and you need more people please contact us and we can arrange a larger work area.
